About Us

Anderson Truss Company, Inc. was founded by John and Marilyn Prospero in 1978 with a vision to provide customers with exceptional service and the highest quality floor and roof trusses at a fair price. The company opened with a manual component saw, one table each for floor and roof trusses, and two additional employees (one of whom still works at Anderson Truss today). While the vision is still the same, much has changed in 40 years of business. Anderson Truss has seen the impact of technology on the construction industry and thrived in both boom and bust economic cycles. Through good times and bad, knowledge, experience, and expertise have been gained.

Today, Anderson Truss employs roughly one hundred people on two shifts. One of the keys to success is our focus on this being a family business. While the company has grown, it has been and will remain family. To reinforce this statement, please consider that there are currently thirteen employees in the office working in sales, design, and production management with a collective three hundred ninety-six years’ experience in the building industry. Of those three hundred ninety-six years, they have three hundred of those years at Anderson Truss. That works out an average of twenty-three years of service per office employee at Anderson Truss! Think about that for a second… that means when you call Anderson Truss, you will almost certainly speak with someone that knows how they can help you achieve your goals for your project.

While Anderson Truss Company is adjacent to Anderson Lumber Company, they are actually two independent companies. Unlike other building material suppliers in East Tennessee, we focus exclusively on structural components. As a matter of fact, we only sell five items:

  • Wood Floor Trusses
  • Wood Roof Truss
  • I-Joist
  • Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL)
  • Simpson Strong-Tie Hardware

Whether you are a homeowner working on a porch addition and only need three trusses, or a general contractor with a multimillion-dollar apartment complex, this kind of focus, coupled with our experience, allows our sales and design staff to provide you with the best information to make structurally correct and cost-effective decisions for your project..

While you can always purchase directly from us, you can also purchase Anderson Trusses through our extensive dealer network. Currently, Anderson Trusses are sold through many regional family building material suppliers and big-box stores alike. If you are currently working with a lumber supplier on a project, or simply would rather have one check to write for your building materials, be sure to tell your lumber salesman to provide Anderson Trusses for your truss needs.

Rest assured, after you have decided to use Anderson Truss as your supplier, the service does not end there. Anderson Truss uses the most cutting-edge technology in the design and fabrication of your trusses. Our design package by Alpine allows us to model your house digitally in three dimensions. After the computer model is built and trusses are designed, the individual pieces that make the trusses are cut on servo motor driven component saws. Cut lumber is then assembled with metal connector plates to make the truss. Delivery to your job site will be made by trucks with roller bends that extend backward and raise so that the truck can literally drive out from under the trusses, placing them as close to where you want them located as possible.

Experience. Focus. Service. These are just a few of the things you will find that separates Anderson Truss from other suppliers. Please give us a call, or send us an email, to allow us the opportunity to earn your business.
